This event has ended

Casentinesi Forest Park, Casanova Alpe area, towards the Ridracoli Dam

Parco delle Foreste Casentinesi - Santa Sofia (FC)

The wolf is the star of this day dedicated to him in which the whole family is involved, from parents to children.

The program of the day in fact provides several moments with activities designed specifically to be able to involve families with children (ages 7-10): while the parents will go to "Lupo school" with Riccardo Raggi (Environmental Excursion Guide, graduate in Faunistic Sciences), the children, under the watchful eye of other collaborators of Romagna trekking, will play and learn something more about the fascinating and mysterious world of the Wolf.

Date: the event will be held on Dec 15, 2018

Event timetable: At 3.00pm

The Wolf (Canis lupus italicus) is now a solid presence in the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna ... and not only. There are about 15 groups (more or less numerous) that frequent the protected area to travel between Romagna and Tuscany. A rather elusive animal, with a little luck you can see it even during the day while crossing a meadow or going over a ridge in search of its preferred prey: deer.

One of the most effective methods for getting in touch with wolves is wolf-howling, a monitoring technique that we will learn and that will be applied in the evening, to try to hear the howl of the group's response in this area.

The National Park of Casentino Forests has specially formed a group of Guides, licensed to teach wolf-howling and available to accompany groups of people interested in deepening their knowledge on this formidable predator.
An exciting experience, which you will certainly never forget!

Also the hiking route is on a driveway and on a simple track, therefore suitable for families and children of primary school age.
