Lido di Spina

Seaside resort in the province of Ferrara. One of the seven Lidos of Comacchio.

Why visit it

Nestled in the pine forest, it is famous for its wide beaches and trendy clubs.

Wrapped in a flourishing ancient pinewood on the boarder with the province of Ravenna, this is the most residential of the Lidi, and its streets - laid out on a semicircular plan - are set with tasteful low-rise villas, often built by famous architects. These villas can be seen in all seven Lidi but they are particularly typical of Spina.

There is accommodation for every one: luxurious, comfortable and quiet, by the sea or in the centre, in the woods or in the more fashionable neighborhoods.

The wide beaches, comfortable accomodation, tennis courts and sports facilities ensure a pleasant and relaxing holiday.

Don't miss

In viale Nicolò Pisano, not far from the beach, there is the splendid and modern villa which was home to the contemporary painter Remo Brindisi, who loved to spend his leisure time here.

Now, the Museum of Contemporary Art "Remo Brindisi"  is dedicated to painting, sculpture, graphic art, and architecture. The imposing building, unique in Italy, is inspired by the Bauhaus movement and was built in 1971-1973 as a project by architect and designer Nanda Virgo.

Brindisi collected a great number of prestigious works ranging through a whole century of contemporary art. Among the most significant masterpieces are those by Picasso, Dalì, Modigliani, De Chirico, Fontana, Morandi, Chagall, Guttuso and Brindisi himself.

In the surroundings

The Po Delta Park envelops Comacchio with its woods and lagoons: just outside the town are the Comacchio Lagoons themselves, which can be visited by bike or boat; to the north, Valle Bertuzzi (10 km) offers splendid landscapes at dusk, while the woodlands at Mesola and Santa Giustina (20 km) are ideal for a cool evening walk among the green leaves after a day on the beach.

Don't miss a visit to Comacchio, the "little Venice", an enchanting lagoon town: it's neat and unfeigned, endowed with a vitality that comes from a strong respect for its own history and for the environment that surrounds it.
